Marker Painting Basics - Paper Staining
Join Amy Shulke, a professional illustrator and marker enthusiast for a fun dark to light coloring lesson- Vanilla Arts style!
Marker Painting is a completely different approach to coloring with markers. Amy teaches students basic techniques and color theory based on the way artists use paint. Instead of focusing on "how" to color a selected stamp image, Amy shows you the "why" behind color selection, shade, layering, and depth. This provides students with the necessary knowledge to color any stamp image in their collection and every stamp they might purchase in the future.
This class contains challenges for confident colorers
Skill Level: moderate beginner through advanced
In a 12 minute technique lesson, Amy covers her Paper Staining technique which you will find to be a handy when coloring from dark to light. Some markers can be reluctant to blend dark to light, learn how to tame even the most stubborn marker colors.
Then in a one hour, fully narrated coloring demonstration, students practice the Staining technique on the Baby Pumpkin project. This project is a little sneaky in that it gives you many chances to perfect your staining and dark to light process without giving you the same item to color over and over. Each lobe of the pumpkin is another chance to get the process right. It's a lot of fun but it's fun with a purpose! You'll definitely have a firmer understanding of how to color dark to light after this lesson!
